How You Can Help HBOI
Our goal is to find God at work and to join Him there. But we can not do it alone. Please consider how you might be able to help us reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Following is a brief overview of evangelism ministries HBOI is supporting.
MILITARY CHAPLAINCY
Chaplains are calling and asking for Bibles every week. Holman Bible Outreach
has already provided over 3,000 of our Military Bibles at no charge to
chaplains who are anxious to get God’s Word into the hands of soldiers
before departing for Iraq. We are working cooperatively with the Director
of Chaplaincy for the North American Mission Board (NAMB) to guide us in
this outreach effort. NAMB estimates 20,000 Bibles are needed for distribution
by SBC chaplains in the coming months.
Make a single gift of $25 or more to provide 12 Military Bibles to soldiers through Military Chaplaincy.
Make an ongoing commitment of $25 or more to provide more than 144 Military Bibles to soldiers annually through Military Chaplaincy.
LUIS PALAU FESTIVALS
Since 1999, more than 6 million people have attended Luis Palau's festivals worldwide. In the U.S., 71,000 have made public decisions for Jesus Christ. Counselors meet with each individual that makes a profession of faith and provide a Growing Faith Booklet featuring the Gospel of John in the Holman Christian Standard Bible translation.
HBOI has provided over 30,000 of these booklets to this ministry already.

SPARROW MINISTRIES
The best way to describe Sparrow Ministries is that they are poor, small, and
under budgeted, but “on fire” for the Gospel. In some cases,
it may be a retired couple that has felt “the Call” to work with
their local county jail or a widow who conducts daily visits in various nursing
homes. The name we have given this effort is from the old hymn, “His
Eye Is On the Sparrow.”
HBOI has provided over 8,000 Bibles and New Testaments have been given to this ministry already.

MISSION GROUNDS
Holman Bible Outreach has partnered with Mission Grounds by giving 1,200
New Testaments for distribution to orphanages in Venezuela. Mission Grounds
hopes to begin providing children’s story books in Spanish that present
the Gospel. Holman Bible Outreach is working on several concepts we hope
to publish this spring. The books will be used for orphanages in Venezuela
and Costa Rica.
HBOI has provided over 1,200 New Testaments to this ministry already.

SET FREE CHURCH
In their book, Breaking the Missional Code, Ed Stetzer and David Putmant
discuss this remarkable Church concept. Set Free’s goal was to take
Jesus to the streets and the drug culture of Yucaipa. Most of those reached
are poor and struggle with the problems of drug and alcohol abuse. Today
there are more than 22 daughter churches around the country.
Holman Bible Outreach has provided nearly 1,000 Bibles to Set Free for their homeless outreach, and has created a traveling pastors library for their young churches.

NEW MANDARIN TRANSLATION
A computer comparison of existing translations currently in use with the
original Hebrew found that only 47% of the words have been translated accurately.
Many Chinese people are confused by what the Bible says and distrust the
accuracy of God’s Word. To eliminate the doubts of the Bible caused
by poor translations and to win the next generation of Chinese to the Lord,
it is imperative that an accurate translation of the Bible be produced.
